Did You Know?

That the DC Government has two green roof rebate programs - one for any kind of roof under 4,000 s.f. that offers $5 / s.f. and a per-project maximum of $20,000 - and a second program for roof retrofits on existing buildings over 4,000 s.f. which offers $7 / s.f. and does not have a maximum amount (find out more about this rebate program here).

That the US General Services Administration (GSA) is starting its own green revolution with an integrated green roof strategy and already have over one million square feet of green roofs installed?

That under the new EPA requirements (Section 438 of the Energy, Independence and Security Act -- EISA), federal agencies must minimize stormwater runoff from federal development projects to protect water resources, thereby stimulating green roof and wall infrastructure?

That the Washington District Department of the Environment initiated a $5 per square foot green roof subsidy with a per-project maximum of $20,000?

That President Obama’s Executive Order 13514 on Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance,  was signed on October 5, 2009.  The EO requires Federal agencies to set greenhouse gas reduction targets, increase energy efficiency, reduce fossil fuel consumption, conserve water, reduce waste, support sustainable planning, and leverage Federal purchasing power to promote environmentally-responsible products and technologies.

That the Clean Energy Stimulus and Investment Assurance Act of 2009 (S.320) introduced by Sen. Maria E. Cantwell (D-Wash.) intends to provides financial incentives for homeowners or commercial building owners which choose to install green roofs on their buildings.

Cancellations must be submitted via web site prior to April 4th, 2011. A 13% administrative charge applies prior to March 11th. The cancellation fee increases to 50% from March 11th to April 10th.
